Azkar Al Sabah: Daily Remembrance for Muslims

27 September, 2025

The daily remembrance of Allah (SWT) is one of the most powerful acts of worship in Islam. Among the most important remembrances are Azkar Al Sabāh (morning adhkār), which the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) encouraged Muslims to recite at the start of each day. These morning supplications protect the believer, bring tranquility to the heart, and strengthen one’s relationship with Allah.

The term azkar is the plural of dhikr, which means remembrance. Azkar al sabah refers specifically to the set of morning supplications and remembrances that Muslims are recommended to say after the Fajr prayer or in the early morning until sunrise. They include verses from the Qur’an, duʿāʾ (supplications), and phrases of glorification and praise of Allah.

In English, some people call them morning adhkār or even write them as morning azkhar. Regardless of the spelling, the meaning is the same: daily words of remembrance that safeguard and bless the believer at the start of the day.

The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) guided Muslims to begin their day with remembrance of Allah. This practice has many benefits:

  1. Spiritual Protection: The adhkār serve as a shield against harm, envy, and the whispers of Shayṭān.

  2. Peace of Mind: Reciting the morning adhkār brings calmness, reduces stress, and increases mindfulness.

  3. Blessings in the Day: They set a positive and faithful tone for the entire day.

  4. Obedience to the Sunnah: Following the Prophet’s (ﷺ) guidance strengthens faith and love for his teachings.

Islamic scholars have preserved a collection of authentic supplications recommended for the morning. Here are some well-known examples:
