Zaynab bint Khuzayma holds a special place in Islamic history as one of the noble wives of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Known for her generosity and kindness, she was often called “Umm al-Masakeen” (Mother of the Poor) due to her tireless support for the needy.
Zaynab bint Khuzayma belonged to the Quraysh tribe in Makkah. From a young age, she was admired for her gentle character and charitable nature. Her compassion for the less fortunate became her defining trait, making her well-respected among her people.
After becoming a widow, Zaynab bint Khuzayma married the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in the third year after Hijrah (around 625 CE). Her marriage reflected the Prophet’s support for widows and the vulnerable members of society, showing Islam’s emphasis on compassion and social responsibility.
Sadly, Zaynab bint Khuzayma’s marriage to the Prophet was brief, lasting only a few months before she passed away at a young age. Despite the short duration, her legacy as one of the Mothers of the Believers (Ummahat al-Mu’minin) remains honored by Muslims worldwide.
Her life teaches valuable lessons in kindness, generosity, and caring for the poor. Muslims remember her as a symbol of mercy and selflessness, an example that continues to inspire acts of charity today.
